FoOT Legacy Endowment
Dear Ouachita Trail Supporter,Would you like to help perpetuate the mission of Friends of the Ouachita Trail without doing any trail maintenance and without writing a check? Consider the FoOT Legacy Endowment. The most lasting contribution you can make to the mission of FoOT is also the easiest.Since the earliest days of the FoOT, our organization’s big concern has been the perpetuation of our mission. Today, FoOT is managed by a completely new team of leaders and enthusiasts, with all of the founding directors rotated off the board. That was a major milestone in perpetuating the organization. Current Leadership has now taken a step that can truly perpetuate the mission of FoOT.The FoOT Legacy Endowment is a permanent and perpetual source of funding for the Ouachita Trail and in some cases for other trails in the Ouachita Mountain region. The Legacy Endowment is intended as a long term source of perpetual funds for major trail maintenance and improvement, much of which gets postponed today due to lack of funding. Although the Endowment will certainly accept cash contributions, it is designed and intended to be funded through estate gifts, which require no up-front cash, no checks to be written, and no dirty hands or tired backs. The initial goal for the FoOT endowment is $ 750,000.00. Although this sounds like a lot of money, remember that the intent is for most of these gifts to come from planned estate giving -- promises for gifts that take effect when your estate is settled. Over half of this amount has already been pledged by FoOT Board members and early Legacy contributors. The endowment principal will always remain for a source of perpetual funding. There are several ways to participate in this exciting program to support the mission of FoOT, and because FoOT is a non-profit corporation, recognized by the IRS, all of them have tax advantages. Consider one of the methods listed on the attached sheet to help expand and perpetuate FoOT and its mission. There are numerous other estate giving tools also available.Speak with your own legal, financial, or estate advisors, or contact FoOT for more ideas. When you are ready to participate, contact FoOT for specific directions, and let us know the amount you are pledging.
